The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye (Shammeh), has charged the residents to take ownership of the recently commissioned Lukmon Atobajeun Street in Ajao Estate.
The road, which links the business hub of the council with the neighboring Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), was within six months from October last years till March, this year.
Olaleye said it would be a disservice to have put up asphalt on the road given the topology of the soil in the area, saying they used interlocks instead.
He urged the residents to protect and maintain the road for longer usage, appealing to them to see the infrastructure as their own property.
Speaking about the road, one of the supervisory engineers, Engr. Sodiq Onashipe, stated that the 185m road was constructed to meet international standard, emphasising that regardless of the threat from heavy trucks used by the companies in the area, the road would last more than five decades if properly maintained with timely clearing of sideway drainage channels.
Part of Chivita Way is interlocked to complement the initial project but, the chairman of Last Building Community Development Association (CDA) which the street falls under, Apostle Ossy Onyiaorah, appreciated the council chairman for the completion of the project.
He however appealed for the remaining portion of Chivita Way downward towards Baale Shekoni to be completed in order to make the construction more unique as he said.
In his words: “We are so grateful to the council boss for the construction of this road. We know what it must have caused the council to concentrate on that road. With the great amount of development that has been put on that road, we can’t but appreciate the council chairman.
“ We are also pleading for the possible completion of other end of Chivita Way in order to sustain Baale Shekoni as a considerable alternative for road users and with that, the newly constructed road won’t get wary in nearest future.”
The ceremonious commissioning had the presence of State House of Assembly member representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency ii Hon. Jude Idimogu, the Council Vice Chairman, Hon. Bayo Olasoju, Community Development Committee (CDC) as led by Hon. Segun Olatunde, councillors, CDA executives and residents of the community.
