Members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area LGA) are ready to enlist in Amotekun, the newly- established security outfit of government in the western region of Nigeria.
In a chat with ECHONEWS, the Commander of VGN, Oshodi command, Kolawole Salami, disclosed that the skills acquired during their last training in October 2019 at Police Training School (PTS) in Ikeja has equipped the members for community policing, adding that they have the right orientation and experience needed for the Amotekun job.
His words: “Concerning Amotekun, we are still expecting the state decisions on the issue and we have our state representative that will carry us along with the necessary information discussed.
“We are fit for the job as we have been trained for community policing. We have the orientation and the right skills to execute the job. We are looking forward to be enlisted with the support of vigilante network, provision of surveillance and intelligence to the police and other formal security agencies to monitor, detect, report, prevent and possibly arrest criminals in the community.”
Salami stated that the present challenge is how to get VGN officials fixed in places to work after the training exercise concluded last year.
He appreciated the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Bolaji Muse Ariyoh for engaging their members in security watch duty post and for paying their salaries promptly.
