At a a gathering recently, the residents warned that they would go on protest if the company refuses to respond to their yearnings as  they have written various letters to the management of the company and other concerned bodies.

Lamenting on the situation, the CDA Chairman, Elder Samuel Ariyo (JP), said the ordealof the community started as soon as their transformer got faulty, which has not been restored for a very long time.

He said the power supply to the community has been reduced from 24 days in a month to barely 5 days in a month.

He said the essence of appealing to the company is to avoid violent act which the community may resort to.

According to Alhaji Muftau Abdulai, one of the leaders in the community, the IKEDC Zonal Business Unit and the Ejigbo Sub-Station have been contacted in person since over a year, saying the company has been promising to do something both on the high bill and transformer but has still not done anything.

Reacting to the community’s complaints on the billing and transformer repair, the Public relations Officer (PRO), IKEDC, Mr. Ayeni Akinola, said the company willl respond.

He explained that any complaint from the customers was always noted for action, saying there were many issues to be sorted out and that customers were attended to according to the degree of the issue as some issues are minor while some are of higher concern.

“We repair according to the customers’ request and the challenge is that we need money to repair those faulty transformers. Most of the customers don’t pay on the transformers through their bills.

“I just want to plead with the customers to always respond to the bills for us to be able to maintain and attend to their issues better because we need money to move around with the vehicle, get the ladders, oil and other things needed.

“What the people should understand is that the payment of their bills helps us in serving them better,” he said.
